The Release of the 1st Full Length Album
"WIDE OPEN"
From a musical Australian household, my father being a guitarist, I started playing piano at around 7 years old. Entering my teens I was surrounded by the great rock and pop music of the day.
By 15 I was fronting the school band, trying our best with classic rock tunes and even some originals.
Then a call came to join the ‘other’ school band, which was the cool school band, I auditioned, but missed the cut! But months later, their Bass Player left the band, my friend who got the Keyboard Gig said “Come on join the band and play Bass” the only problem being I’d never played Bass!
Long story short, I had a 2 week ‘crash course’ learning the Bass before my 1st gig. I became a Bass Player.
For the next 10 years or so I played in various bands (Crystal Logic, Forecast, Modern Daze) around Tasmania, Australia. We played some great support gigs with some big bands of the time, Men at Work, Split Enz, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel.
1985 moved to Sydney, Australia, playing with some fun rock bands, and then eventually with the blues band, Black Cat Moan, fronted by Wayne Jury and Bob Spencer (Angels/Skyhooks) we had some wonderful support gigs with blues greats, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, and eventually releasing a CD.
1990 I had just met my wife to be, and had the chance to potentially join the Angels, with a tour about to start, but I chose 'the girl' and we moved to NZ.
Music took a back seat for many years in NZ, but in the last 5 years or so, inspired by my best friend (and ex bandmate) dealing with cancer, we both started to play and enjoy music together again. It was a tonic for us both.
Writing, creating, and just jamming, Music was fun!
Through this ALWAYS JIM emerged, a portal for my music,
with the help of artists and friends from around the world...
